THRIFT STORE CLOSING
Yucca Valley, Ca - The Board of Directors of the Boys & Girls Club of the Hi Desert announced today they plan to close their thrift store outlet, located at 7333 Apache Trail in Yucca Valley by November 15, 2011.
The store which was opened over 10 years ago was a fund raising venture to provide the club with funds for operations for their children’s programs at the club on Little League Drive in Yucca Valley. “The store has seen a continual downturn in revenues and at the same time, our expenses have gone up due to higher insurance costs, rents, utilities and payroll costs causing us to take a long hard look at this operation”, said Board President, Vickie Bridenstine. “We tried moving the store over a year ago to a larger location and we have done a great job with getting donations and our staff and board have done an amazing job trying to turn it around but the bottom line is it just is barely surviving and we are not in the business of thrift stores; we are in the business of providing our area youth a great place to learn, grow and be safe. That being said, we will work on finding other revenue sources to support our club activities and cease running the store. The club wishes to thank its loyal customers and donors over the years and look forward to working with all of you in future endeavors”, said Bridenstine.
“The store will be starting their half off everything in the store sale October 5, 2011” said Sam Handley, Executive Director and will continue with special sales until all inventories are gone. Stop by for daily specials! For information, you can call the store at 760-228-9623. The store will be open Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 4. PM, and closed on Saturday and Sunday. No more donations will be accepted of merchandise but the club always appreciates all monetary donations towards their programs.
