Overview

The Boys & Girls Club of the Hi-Desert (BGCHD) www.yvkids.org is currently seeking an Executive Director to lead our organization. The Executive Director is responsible for managing the operation of the Club in support of the organizational mission and goals and provides direction to staff in carrying out the key roles assigned to them. The Executive Director collaborates with the Board of Directors in strategic planning, developing organizational goals, attaining/allocating resources, and establishing policies and priorities. Two of the current board members are former Executive Directors of the club, who can offer support and guidance. Responsibilities

  • Represent and promote the Boys & Girls Clubs as a transformational leader in the local community and develop positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities. 

  • Develop, maintain, and model collaborative relationships with community agencies in service delivery area.

  • Direct and manage the financial resources of the organization with concurrence of the Board of Directors.

  • Oversee the hiring, training, development and supervision of leadership staff.

  • Develop, manage, and monitor the operating budget. 

  • Direct strategic planning efforts and develop the annual operating plan as set by the Board of Directors.

  • Direct and participate in public relations and fundraising activities, as well as lead activities to raise fund or solicit and gather monetary donations of other gifts for the organization.  

  • Develop and direct high-quality relationship-based member engagement strategies.

  • Ensure the safety and maintenance of high-quality facilities, grounds, and equipment.

*The Executive Director will establish, with the concurrence of the Board of Directors, specific semi-annual performance objectives and expected outcomes in accordance with the above expectations and details of the job description. These objectives are dynamic and will be revised from time to time to the mutual agreement of the Executive Director and Board of Directors. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

  • A minimum of three years' experience in managing programs or operations in a non-profit agency or Boys & Girls Club; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Thorough knowledge of the following: club missions’, objectives, policies, programs and procedures of Boys & Girls Clubs; the principles and practices of managing non-profit organizations; and resource development activities and sources of funding. 

  • Demonstrated ability to plan and implement effective operations.

  • Leadership skills, including negotiation, problem-solving, decision-making, and strong interpersonal skills.

  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written. 

  • Strong financial skills, including experience with budget setting and management, and with bookkeeping and accounting. 

  • An ability to distill complex financial information into relevant reports and actionable recommendations for the Board of Directors. 

  • Basic knowledge of asset management including financial resources and property. 

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the Board of Directors, staff, community groups, and other related agencies.
